Welcome!
Can I ask you a question?
What is home?
Is it a place? Or is it people?
I've given this question a lot of thought.
I first explored the idea of home as a place in my debut novel Do Over. But when I revisited that idea in my next novel, The Memory Trap, I came to a different conclusion.
Home isn't a place, I decided. It's the people who take up residence in our hearts.
Those people can be our parents and siblings, of course, and they can also be the people we meet along the way--kindred spirits in whose presense our best selves shine forth.
Thank you for visiting my site! Take a moment to look around. And, please, make yourself at home.
Me, my wife Amy, our son Max, and our daughter Mara, standing atop Cadillac Mountain in Maine's gorgeous Acadia National Park.
This is my family.
This is my home.
The Memory Trap is a mystery wrapped in a mystery. One is a straight-up whodunnit. The other is a locked-room mystery.
A locked room is a crime that's commited under seemingly impossible circumstances.
My locked room was inspired by the late Doug Henning, an awesome magician who once made an elephant disappear before my very eyes.
I was nineteen years old at the time, and I've never forgotten it. Thanks, Doug!

What's new?
The paperback edition of The Memory Trap is out, and the back cover features a bloody cool blub by bestselling children's author Mo O'Hara, who writes:
"Greg Koren deals a winning hand with The Memory Trap. This story of misfits and mis-direction comes up trumps with humor and heart. With twists and turns, and sleight of hand the plot keeps you guessing while the detailed characters keep you turning the pages. Who will show their hand? Who will play it safe? Who will risk it all? The Memory Trap is an Ace of a story."
